Suggested Project Selection Process

Step 1: List Broad Problems - Worksheet
Make a list of broad problems that affect your students' achievement from the information you gathered in Element 1: Activity 2.

Step 2: Choose a broad problem and list the causes - Worksheet
Choose one of your broad problems and list the probable causes of the problem and its impact.

Step 3: Cross Out
Look at your list of causes and cross out all the items that can't be changed.

Step 4: Circle
Look at your list of causes and circle any causes with which you have a direct relationship.

Step 5: Group - Worksheet
State you broad problem then list singular causes and group related causes.

Step 6: Choose Real Problem
From the remaining grouped causes choose one real problem (cause) to build your project around.

Step 7: List evidence of the Real Problem - Worksheet
Using the information you gathered in Element 1 list evidence that supports the broad and real problem/s you identified in previous steps.

Step 8: Brainstorm Project Ideas - Worksheet
From the information you gathered in previous steps, brainstorm project ideas.

Step 9: Choose Project Idea
From the list of project ideas, choose one to pursue.
