New Oklahoma Academic Standards Adopted

On March 21, 2016, Oklahoma State Senate and House leaders passed separate joint resolutions approving new Oklahoma Academic Standards for English language arts and Mathematics. SC3 at the University of Oklahoma (OU) provided support to the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) in developing the new Oklahoma Academic Standards by helping to assemble the Oklahoma Standards Writing Committee to provide opportunities for stakeholder input. SC3 and committee members also created a standards comparison analysis tool to guide members in developing a required report to compare the new standards with previous standards. The new standards were written by teams of educators from Oklahoma, institutions of higher education and school districts from across the state. SC3 will continue to support OSDE in the implementation of the new standards to ensure all Oklahoma students graduate college and career ready.
