To the Parents of _______________________________________:

Our district assesses the language of all students with a background in languages other than English. This assessment is given when a student enrolls in our district and each spring. This allows us to provide the best educational program for the student. Recently, your child was given this assessment.

Your child's scores indicate that he/she has been designated:

__________Non English Proficient __________Limited English Proficient __________Fluent English Proficient

The district offers several programs to students who qualify for language assistance.

(Check all programs that apply)

A.________Your child qualifies for services. He/she is receiving instruction in:

_________Newcomer Program _________ESL Program in the home school

________extended day kindergarten ________pull-out program ________inclusion program ________mainstream classroom instruction

B. _______Testing results indicate your child does not qualify for services at this time.

You have the right to visit the school and observe the services your child is receiving. If you would like to discuss our programs for Non and Limited English Proficient students, or if you wish to decline services for which your child qualifies, please call the ESL Orientation Office or your home school.
