Nina BarbeeHalito (Hello)!

I’m Dr. Nina Barbee, Proud Member of the Choctaw Nation, and Director of the American Indian Institute (Aii) at University of Oklahoma Outreach/College of Continuing Education.

The NATIVE PERSPECTIVES VIRTUAL SPEAKER SERIES: Viewing Contemporary Issues through an Indigenous Lens, is a first for Aii. We lived in the face-to-face conference space for more than 65 years. But, the pandemic happened and everything changed. We sent out a nation-wide survey asking community members what they thought the most important issues and topics are today. We gathered that information and went to work to develop a phenomenal series of virtual presentations and conversations that are inspiring, relevant, and transformational.

Importantly, in the process, we simultaneously created a safe place to engage in real conversations about contemporary and relevant issues affecting Native communities, impacting lives, including health, education and overall well-being.

As a bonus, we feature a line-up of expert Speakers on these diverse topics to share their knowledge and experiences with us. You have the opportunity to interact and ask your most burning questions. Please know that we are dedicated to seeing you, hearing you, and providing a platform for your voice to be heard.

Together We Thrive! Why is this important?

Finally, I want to highlight our motto: Together We Thrive! The synthesis of togetherness is profound and transformative. It nourishes the soul. We grow together.

We extend a special invitation to you to gather with us. Let’s learn together how we can better serve our communities and live our best present, honoring those before us, and planting seeds of glorious wellness for future generations! You can register now!

Yakoke (Thank you)!

With gratitude and appreciation,

Nina
